Rajo Laurel, cobweb dresses and controversy

Title of this post aside, I will not comment on the plagiarism controversy beleaguering Rajo Laurel over his cobweb dress.

Shredding is an art. It’s hard to get it right and even when you do, the result isn’t always what you would call beautiful. But Rajo Laurel’s dresses are beautiful.  Here’s one that I love.

The 6-year-old cobweb design by the Cebu designer aside, I love Rajo Laurel and I always will.  I hate how gowns in this country often look like they’re meant to be worn at the flores de mayo. But Rajo always manages to pull it off. Understated elegance with that little extra something that keeps it from being boring and safe. That’s Rajo Laurel for me. (My love for his ballerina line deserves another post entirely, but I digress.)

Of course, not everyone can afford him. For those looking for a cheaper alternative, check this out:

Summer’s almost here and I’m always on the lookout for coverups. Summer must-haves: sunblock, sunglasses, a bikini and this shredded dress by stylebreak.

Oh and mancandy to cater to your every desire. But that I already have ;)
